January 24, 2019. CMSA made history as the only public charter school in this year’s cohort to receive a seven year renewal from Chicago Public Schools Board of Directors at yesterday’s Board Meeting. This significant accomplishment comes on the heels of CMSA’s impressive track record of receiving a Level 1+ Rating (the highest rating possible CPS can grant a school), four years in a row and the selection by U.S. News & World Report at the #1 public charter school in the state two years in a row.“CMSA views this renewal as an honor and a well-deserved recognition of our school’s commitment to providing all students with equity in education. As a local neighborhood school, we are proud to serve the highly diverse families which make up our wonderful Rogers Park community. I am extremely proud of our staff, our students, and our families for their hard work ensuring that each student at our school succeeds,” states Principal Kuran. “I am very grateful to CPS CEO Dr. Janice Jackson, and the entire staff at the Office of Innovation and Incubation in particularly Mary Bradley, for their continued support and trust in the work we do. We cannot do it without them.”
Since 2004, it has been the mission of CMSA, located in the Rogers Park community, to prepare students for college and the world beyond by offering high-quality, college-prep, STEM-focused education that changes the trajectory of students’ lives. Chicago Math & Science Academy is managed by Concept Schools. Concept Schools is a charter school management organization that manages or operates 31 public charter schools throughout the United States. Our college-prep curriculum is STEM-based, and like any other public school, each school in the Concept network is highly regulated and overseen by their respective school districts and charter authorizers. Schools within the Concept Network are continuously recognized for their excellence in education.
