October 2021.   Chicago Math and Science Academy (CMSA) is Where Excellence Thrives. CMSA was established as a tuition-free college preparatory school in Chicago in 2004. CMSA’s first principal was Salim Ucan and the school’s first location was at 1705 W Lunt Ave. CMSA began offering high quality education to 6th through 8th graders and then added one grade level every year. CMSA became a 6th-12th grade school in 2008 with 600 students.

In  2009, CMSA moved to its current location, 7212 N Clark Street, which used to be the location of a mall in the Rogers Park neighborhood.

Our goal is to maintain excellent parent and student satisfaction and have a high staff retention rate while providing an equitable, high-quality, college- focused curriculum to our students. Our students respond to the culture of achievement and high expectations:

CMSA is one of Chicago’s most successful public charters schools in Illinois. Beginning in 2013, CMSA has continuously earned a ranking of either Level 1 or Level 1+ (2014, 2015) by Chicago Public Schools (CPS) based on their School Quality Rating Policy (SQRP) report. The report establishes the indicators of school performance and growth and the benchmarks against which a school’s success is evaluated on an annual basis. This report is based on school performance metrics such as PSAE /ACT scores, student growth in math and reading, drop-out rate, and attendance rate.

  • 8 Years in a Row rated Level  1 or  Level 1+ Excellent School Rating by Chicago Public Schools   This rating places CMSA among the highest performing public schools, both charter and district, in Chicago. CMSA’s School Quality Report by CPS can be found at: www.cps.edu.
  • 6 Years in a Row of being name #1 Public Charter High School  in Illinois according to U.S. News & World Report

Chicago Magazine’s September 2016 issue rated schools in the area and listed CMSA as one of the top 2 charter schools in the city.
