CMSA Speech and Debate team competed at Von Steuben High School in a tournament hosted by Chicago Debates the weekend of January 24. Our debaters competed in the Public Forum event and took home 1st and 2nd place at the tournament.
The partnership of (Junior) Lajoie Mandala and (Junior) Zahara Uwera defeated (Sophomore) Ayo Bakare and (Freshman) Mariam Kazi in the final round to take home first place. Speaking Honors winners at the tournament include Lajoie Mandala (1st), Aaliyah Abu (3rd), Gofran Abdalla (4th) and Jaden Mosley (5th). We also had several students compete for the first time and are excited that all our competitors won at least one round. Go, Titans!
